This year the band students at Akers Elementary School had the opportunity to perform for the first time in two and a half years. I am so proud of each of these students for their perseverance, positive attitude, and dedication to making music.

On Tuesday May 17th the Akers Junior High Beginning Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band performed for family and friends. The evening was a celebration of accomplishments and making beautiful music. On Thursday, May 19th the Akers Elementary 5th Grade Beginning Band performed for the 3rd and 4th grade classes, parents, and friends. The opportunity to play for an audience is priceless, and we would like to thank our district administration: Superintendent Mr Addington, Assistant Superintendent Mrs Sidhu, our site Principal Mr Sweeney, Vice Principal Mr Denney, the teaching staff and support staff at Akers, and the parents for their constant support and dedication to making music happen for our students. It was so wonderful to see the excitement and enthusiasm on the faces of the band students who have worked so hard and have endured so much. These concerts were truly magical moments for them.
