Science

I have a broad background in Science. During my time at Akers I have taught mainly 7th and 8th grade Science. I am currently teaching all 8th graders Science.

Eighth grade science focuses mainly in the area of Physical Science. Some concepts of Life and Earth Science are integrated to support topics in Physical Science. The broad areas of study will be: motion, forces, structure of matter, earth in the solar system, reactions, chemistry of living systems, periodic table, density and buoyancy, and investigation and experimentation.

Science concepts are taught through the use of a class text, an online Science web source, and lab activities.

The world we live in is an on going science experiment. We can explain much of our world through science. Eighth grade science is geared toward awakening each student's awareness of how their everyday world can be explained through science plus gaining an understanding of their participation in it.
