I am currently the 7th grade Pre-Algebra . I have been teaching for 26 years with 15 years of those at Akers Elementary.

7th Grade Common Core Content Standards:

RATIOS AND PROPORTIONS

• Ratios and Proportional Reasoning- rates, complex fractions and unit rates, convert unit rates, proportional and non-proportional relationships, graphing proportional relationships, solving proportional relationships, constant rate of change, slope, direct variation
• Percents- percent of a number, percent and estimation, percent proportion, percent of change, sales tax, tips, and markup, discount, simple interest.

THE NUMBER SYSTEM

• Integers- adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers
• Rational Numbers- rational numbers on a number line, terminating and repeating decimals, compare and order rational numbers, adding and subtracting like fractions, unlike fractions and mixed numbers (positive and negative), multiply and divide positive and negative fractions

EXPRESSIONS AND EQUATIONS ( PRE-ALGEBRA)

• Expressions- algebraic expressions, sequences, properties if operations, distributive property, simplifying algebraic expressions, add and subtract linear expressions, factor linear expressions.
• Equations and Inequalities- one step addition and subtraction equations and inequalities, multiplication and division equations and inequalities, solving equations with rational coefficients, two step equations and inequalities.

GEOMETRY

• Geometric Figures- complementary and supplementary angles, properties of triangles, scale drawings, 3- dimensional figures and cross sections
• Measure Figures- circumference and area of circles, area of composite figures, volume of prisms and pyramids, surface area of prisms and pyramids, volume and surface area of composite figures

STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY

• Probability- probability of simple events, theoretical and experimental probability, fair and unfair games, probability of compound events, fundamental counting principle, permutations, independent and dependent events
• Statistics – making predictions, biased and unbiased samples, compare populations, select an appropriate display.
