Posted on 06/16/2020
Central Union School District will return to school on August 12, 2020. The goal is to return in a Traditional Model. This is the plan and approach. While the District is still working through how this will ‘look’, and uncertainties surround how this approach will look as far as face coverings, recesses, lunchtime, physical education, extra-curricular activities, athletics, physical distancing and the like, what is known is the goal to open in a Traditional Model with students in school every day and with their teacher(s)! There are changes everyday, but the focus is to bring our students back to the school campus.  READ MORE... about Countdown to School Opening 2020-21

Welcome to Akers Elementary School
Admiral Akers School is nestled within the Lemoore Naval Air Station and was built in 1963 to service the children of military families. The school acknowledges the importance of a student’s academic success and appreciates the importance of a student’s social and mental well-being. Teachers, administrators, and staff are all dedicated to providing a warm and challenging learning experience for the children.

The faculty and staff at Akers School believe that education is a cooperative effort among home, school, and community. Our major goal is to prepare students to become responsible citizens and productive members of society. We believe all children are capable of learning. Akers children will be provided with an environment that is safe, caring, friendly, and educationally inspiring. Our school climate will encourage openness, trust, self-esteem, self-motivation, respect for self and respect for others. It will help children achieve social, academic, and physical excellence and allow students to succeed within their limits.

Admiral Akers School is located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley on the Lemoore Naval Air Station near Lemoore, California. The school was built in 1963 to educate the children of military families. Akers is located half-way between San Francisco and Los Angeles and half-way between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Surrounding Lemoore Naval Air Station are acres of agricultural land. The town of Lemoore (population 24,285) is seven miles from Akers School. Our school mascot is an eagle. When the school was founded, Admiral Akers, for whom the school is named, was the oldest active duty Navy pilot. He was called the Gray Eagle. Our school colors are red, black, and gray. Our school motto is "Every Student Succeeding." We are California Distinguished School and a National "Blue Ribbon" School. Akers has won each award two times.
