The water system on NASL recently failed a drinking water standard. Although this is not an emergency, as consumers, you have a right to know what happened, what you should do, and what we are doing to correct this situation.
NASL routinely monitors for the presence of drinking water contaminants. Compliance with the total trihalomethane (TTHM) maximum contaminant level (MCL) is based on the locational running annual average (LRAA) concentration for each site. The standard for TTHMs is 0.080 milligrams per liter (mg/L). The calculated fourth quarter of 2015 and first quarter of 2016 LRAAs, for the four sample sites, exceed the TTHM MCL.
Measures to replace filter media in the remaining two filters have been initiated and are expected to be completed by end of third quarter 2016, as well as completion of repair and use of the ground water well to supplement the canal water source to improve water quality.
